well, in france we like our food and we tend to take a long lunch break.
Some of us will jusr grab a quick snack (sur le pouce) and get a sndwich a pastry or a quiche.
But ther is the cafe bistrot tradition of having lunch out.
Sit down in an old cafe and have an mazing croque monsieur with frites or salad. A massive salad or le menu du jour with starter meatfish and nice dessert.

It's very hard to answer but I guess that we eat more than the Americans and the Brittons at that time of the day. And we spend more time to eat.

More and more French eat sandwiches for business break at lunch. But those who stay home have a 3 course meal.

French people tend to have very simple lunches, usually a baguette with a slice of brie and ham.
