You will need a valid passport. That's the only travel document required for U.S. citizens. You used to need a visa as well, but that ended in the early 90s.
You might want to get some Euros from your bank before you go - just enough for things like train fare in from the airport, a snack after you land, etc. You can use your ATM card in the machines in France to get Euros after that. |

You need a passport, money for a plane ticket, and a place to stay. The passport will cost some $$, less than 100. Flight and hotel can be booked online (or the old fashioned way if you don't have a credit card or can't get anyone to lend you theirs). Go to your local municipal center to get a passport. you'll need a passport photo too.
Some spending money and a basic understanding of the French language wouldn't hurt either. |
