I loved France when I visited in 1998, almost 10 years ago! I think French is a beautiful language and the people facinate me. I would love to go back and I lived through my sister when she moved to France for a summer session of college in Paris.
I learned French but I've now forgotten everything I've learned but I still love to listen to a conversation between two native French speakers. I love the art, the culture, the history and the food!
It's been too long since I visited and I was very young. I would love to go back.....
PS...There is nothing wrong with tasteful nudity.... |

I can't speak for France in general because I've only been one place, and I loved it!
I have several French friends who are intelligent, highly educated, well-informed, and very articulate. I like them very much. The people I met in Paris were very nice to me, too. |

we just went to France (Paris) this past september and it was beautiful !!..I heard back in the U.S that in Paris people were rude but to my surprise we found polite , friendly and helpful people ! .. the food is delicious and I love the metro system that takes you practically everywhere in Paris ...!
I do hope go back there soon ! |

That it's just as dumb to make generalizations about them as to make generalizations about any other group. And that asking such vague questions leads to responses from imbeciles who think it's funny or witty to make insulting and stereotyped comments about them, when in all likelihood they've never ventured more than 100 miles from their hometowns. (Not mentioning any names...) |

France is a beautiful country with very diverse regions -- big-city and cosmopolitan Paris (of course); the pebbled beaches of the Cote d'Azur; lush wine country in Bourgogne and Bordeaux; historic castles in the Loire Valley; soaring cliffs of Bretagne; scenic Catalan and medieval countryside of the southwest; skiing and hiking in Chamonix/French Alps, etc.
As for the people -- despite the reputation of Parisian rudeness, I've found them quite hospitable when I lived there in the mid-90s...just went back for the first time since then this Fall, and the people were even more warm and open than I remembered!

I think that France is an amazing and beautiful country. The regions are so diverse and the landscape and architecture are breathtaking. Being American, I am envious of the rich culture and history. My perception of the French people (and of those I've known personally) is that they are well educated, sophisticated and so well poised. My husband and I would both move to France in a heartbeat if only they would let us in! The country is so stringent when it comes to granting citizenship. If you can pull any strings... let us know... our bags are packed!! :-) |

Their food is wonderful. They are more interesting than ice skating, though only when there is no ice skating on the television. The one-way system in Nantes is crap. I like Cholet. |
