2 shy is right on... there is more anti French feeling here in America than there is anti American feeling over there. I had group of 30 artists in Avignon just a short while after the invasion of Iraq. I was freaked about going - to say the least. But I found just the opposite of what I expected. I found people trying even harder to please us!

Sure they hate Bush, but they hate their own politicians as well. They dont' as a rule hate us. I see our relationship as one between two siblings: one outgoing, aggressive and expressive; and the other as more withdrawn and introverted. A generalization that holds some truth.

Don't even try to go. You'll be rejected at immigration control.

I have found that there is much more anti-french sentiment in America than there is anti-american sentiment in France. Because of my job, I have traveled extensively in both countries, and just recently left France after being there for several months. The french actually say very little about Americans. Keep in mind that many french people never spoke out in opposition to the war, but rather chose not to be involved in the war.

You will have a great time in Paris if you don't act like an ugly american.
They hate you no more than before Bush acted like an idiot and started a war against sound advise from other countries.

Politics are not on every citizens mind. You are going there as a tourist not a war monger.

Don't worry about it. I was in Paris a month ago and nothing is particularly different than it ever was (I've been going to Paris about once a year for last 35 years.)

There is always a certain level of "anti-Americanism" in France but it almost no impact on an individual American tourist.

Frenchmen love to argue about politics. Its almost a national sport and people are very good at it.

Its my opinion that the average Frenchmen is better informed about current events than the average American. That doesn't mean they are always right but it makes for interesting conversations (or debates.)
