As others have said its for firms that recieve large amounts of post to make it easier for the post office. It will still get through ifyou dont put the cedex details down |

As Riffilane already told you it is a special service for companies which receive a huge amount of letters and parcels per day.
The CEDEX (CDX) is the equivalent of PO Box.
