What does les deux magots mean. its a cafe in paris france.?

the name has something to do with chinese traders that the cafe has statues of inside and the word magots is apparently old french. any ideas?

Rillifane
The café is housed in a building that started life in 1813 as a drapery, selling silk and other luxury items.

It took its name 'Les Deux Magots' from a successful play of that time: 'The Two Magots of China'.

The term "magot" was the term used to describe (according to different sources) either Chinese commerical traders or "Confucian wise men."
