I think France mentality clashes with American thinking. The French probably find Americans a bit backward or too conservative. I know to a lot of United States citizens, the French seem cold, demure, sophisticated, chic, stuck-up and rugged (don't keep up hygienic appearances). French fashion and movies are always trendy and avant garde.

Americans have a lot of misconceptions about the French. I have met some French people, and once they accepted me, they were fun to hang out with. But there is this "distance" not rudeness when I first came into contact with them. I am the same way though.

Soyez assuré que j'admire beaucoup de choses au sujet de la France. Je voyage souvent en France et j'ai beaucoup d'amis en France.

Cependant, je dois vous donner mon avis honnête.

France was, for many years, a "Great Power." For centuries it dominated the affairs of Europe.

Beginning with the defeat of the Second Empire of Louis Napoleon by the Prussians it began to decline.

The unification of both the Germans and the Italians into new national states meant that areas in which France had, during the preceding centuries, freely interfered were now possible rivals.

The disaster of World War One sapped France of its martial vigor and while Paris was a center for intellectual activity during the decades of the 1920's and 1930's its international political influence was weak and vacillating.

World War Two was a humiliation for France and the reaction of the French people was to create a mythology concerning the Resistance and the role of the Free French Forces that was disconnected from reality.

The result was that, in the years following the war, France desperately attempted to redeem its self esteem by cruel and, ultimately foolish, military actions in Indochina and North Africa.

When these failed and France was stripped of the last vestiges of its empire it became, as a nation, increasingly bitter and hostile towards the United States (and, to a degree, the United Kingdom) whose power, prestige and prosperity it both deeply resented and envied.

Rather than accept the reality of diminished French importance in the world, France seeks to reinvigorate itself by harming the United States, its oldest ally and comrade in arms of two terrible wars.

It seems that many Frenchmen have adopted a crude anti-Americanism which seeks to explains France's difficulties and diminished influence.

It seems clear that France faces increasing problems with both its economy and its ability to integrate a growing and disaffected Muslim community.

The recent rioting in the banlieues by Muslims and the controversy concerning the contrat première embauche demonstrate the instability of the current French system and the inadequacy of current French leadership.

If France does not adjust to present day realities it will continue to decline.

Thank you for asking! I think France will be an Islamic country in the next 100 years..probably Hezbollah run..ohh sorry the French government has been penetrated by Hezbollah already or maybe by Bin Laden - can't tell.

I don't like the french much. I don't understand their way of thinking at all. They hate Americans, but yet, if we didn't help in WW2, the French would be speaking German. Why do the French hate Americans so much?
