We are planning on moving there soon, but no very little about the country. Anyone who helps will be considered our friends forever!

French fries and french toast aren't actually french foods.
The is alot of food in france. Try searching french cuisine.
I have never been to France but I am taking a french class in school.
I have also been to a french restaurant called Chez Daniel. It is amazing
Escargot,
I have had croissants, pain au chocolat, chocolat fondu, Quiche au Fromage, Crème Brûlée, Bouillabaisse & others.

Don't knock it till you try it is my motto, and France is an amazing place to live, you should be lucky. French food is delicious

Yeah. You clearly know nothing about the country.

Because they don't have anything called "French Fries" or "French Toast"... They are called "Pommes Frîtes" and "Pain Perdue" and neither one is particularly French.

And if you don't know that some of the best food ever is from France, then you really do know nothing! (about the country, or the world, for that matter!)

Try searching "French cuisine". You ought to find everything you need there.

I can tell.
Well, there are tons of popular French foods, and French fries and French toast are not even French. French fries can be ordered as "des frites" (pronounced like day freet) but I've never seen French toast there.

More popular French foods include crêpes (au fromage, au chocolat, etc.), the croque monsieur (grilled ham and cheese sandwich), the croque madame (same as the monsieur but with a "un œuf" on top--an egg), soupe à l'oignon (French onion soup), baguettes, and croissants.

Specialties and regional foods include escargot, coq au vin, bœuf bourguignon, pot-au-feu, cassoulet, bouillabaisse, canard à l'orange, gigot d'agneau, salade niçoise, and choucroute, which I will let you look up if you are interested.

The French have a unique culture of their own, much different from our American culture. For example, lunch is often the most important and largest meal of the day, with a smaller breakfast and lighter dinner. The French normally buy their foods at smaller neighborhood marchés (markets) and specialty stores, rather than supermarchés and hipermarchés (supermarkets and hypermarkets), although they do exist. A large chain of supermarkets is Carrefour.

Most French live in apartments in cities, while the lower income families live outside the cities in HLMs (basically low income apartments like those you'd see perhaps in Latin American countries) or very small private homes. This is in a way opposite of America, where lower income earners usually live in cities with higher income families in the suburbs.
Paris is divided into spiral sections called arrondissements. There are about 20 and the first arrondissement (often written as 1° or 1er) is the most exclusive and most expensive. As the arrondissement numbers get higher, home prices get lower. FYI the Musée du Louvre is in the first arrondissement, and the Eiffel Tower is in the seventh (7° or 7ème.)

Please read a ton more about France before you move there. And... learn some French. You're going to need it! I hope this helps some.

You need to get reading, lovely. A great deal.

France is a wonderful wonderful place and each region is very distinctive. Eg in Normandy you get a lot of butter and cream and camembert and cider and calvados. In Provence you get olive oil, goat cheese, beef, lamb, fish. In the southwest you get duck and beans and smoked sausages. You get bread everywhere but each region has its own delicacies.

Obsessed with food, moi? In France you learn to live to eat and end up healthier than you were to begin with because you learn not to eat anything that isn't 'bon'.

Which part of France are you moving to? Can you choose? If you can, choose carefully. And you MUST learn the language. The French language, I mean. Each region has its own dialect/language but they aren't for beginners.

And learn about French manners too. You walk into a shop, you say 'Bonjour madame/monsieur' or they'll think you're an oaf. When you leave you say 'Au revoir'.

I am intrigued by your question. You say that you are planning to move to France. Are you American citizens and have you actually been offered a job in France? Are you working for the Diplomatic Corps? If this is the case you are very lucky as the European Union has signed an agreement whereby non EU citizens cannot move to or work in any EU state, and that includes France.
To be allowed to settle and work in France you have to be a fluent speaker, have been sponsored by a firm or an organisation that has already a footing in France, and have exceptional qualifications and talents which cannot be found locally. You have to apply to your nearest French consulate for a long term Schengen visa and a residence permit in France, with proof of all these things and also a bank statement showing that you have the means to keep yourself financially. If you do not fulfil the necessary conditions you will not be allowed in.
At the moment the work situation in France is dire with thousands of highly qualified or skilled natives having to take menial jobs to survive and the cost of living has rocketed. There is already an exodus of EU nationals who cannot find jobs and are returning to their own country. Any person who employs a non EU citizen who has not had permission to work in France, even temporarily, will be prosecuted and the employee deported.

You can go there as a tourist for a maximum of 90 days with evidence of a return ticket and proof that you can pay your way.
Sadly these days one cannot just up and go to another country. America imposes the same rules of entry on citizens of other nations.
