Sacré Coeur, Eiffel Tower, Nôtre Dame, the Seine, the Jardins Louxembourg, the pyramid at the Louvre.

If you wanted to leave Paris, you have the lavender fields at Provence, the castles along the Loire, Carcassonne (a personal favorite, that would make a COOL painting...I'll commission one from ya.) , Mont St. Michel, the lily pond at Giverny (ok, those two have been done to death, but...you could put a personal spin on them), the veteran's cemetary in Normandy (I think it's at Omaha beach...all those white marble crosses...very striking).

*Edit* You can poke around in Flickr and get some ideas, just go to flickr.com and search paris, find a photo, and you really should ask the photographer for permission, but since you aren't ACTUALLY using their work, they probably will give it to you. Or you could go to any site on French tourism and find public photos you could paint, or there are probably some decent ones in any French text book that if you painted them, it wouldn't be plagiarism. Copying and using someone else's actual images is wrong, but painting off them for a school project should be ok. Check with your teacher on that.

You could paint the Eiffel Tower. But I doubt if the authorities would give the necessary permission without sight of your health and safety certificates. It's a quite tall building and ordinary ladders are insufficient. Anyway, acrylic is useless - it would soon flake off the ironwork. There is little chance of you being allowed to paint any other landmarks - they probably like them just the way they are.

i think pigalle st germain des pres and Montmartre

Countrgrrl!
Most people will choose the Eiffel tower or Arc de Triomph. To be different you could paint place du tertre. That is the place to be for (young) painters/artists at Montmartre. My parents have a painting with that scenery, the sacre Couer is in the back and in the front there are the cafe's, artists under their red parasol and the tourists. When I look at that painting I feel like I'm in Paris!

I have an absolutely beautiful painting of the Champs-Elysees in autumn, and I think it would be a great scene in Paris to paint.

Before you choose - scout in the city on foot with your camera
and find "your" sceneries -

Instead of Tour Eiffel - blaaahh - why not the bouquinistes, in a long perspective along the Seine -
or sceneries of the different flee markets
or Canal Saint Martin close to Bastille or higher in he Xe arrondissement with the famous Hotel du Nord
or the Metro in its open parts etc...
