Hotel Residence Pension du Palais looks good online, even my Parisian friend says so, and their rates are less than 60 euros a night for a single. Great location next to Luxembourg Garden, too!
Two hotels in which I've stayed in Paris: (1) Hotel Magendie, in the 13th. I think the rate is about 69 euros per night including tax and breakfast. (2) Appart'Valley Hotel across from Jardin des Plantes. I don't remember the rate, but the bonus is that you have a little kitchenette in which you can prepare simple meals, which means less money spent eating out. For my other visits, I rented an apartment from a friend of my friend, but she sold it and moved away so that won't help you. |

Price them out with your expected stay dates on Kayak, Expedia, or Orbitz. Hotel rates vary from season to season, and sites like these make comparison shopping easy. |

Taking the mathematical average of hotel prices probably wouldn't be of much help since they can range from the very inexpensive to the insanely expensive.
My personal suggestion for a hotel is the St. Andre des Arts in the 6th arrondissement. A double will run 89 euros which includes taxes and breakfast in the morning. http://www.123france.co.uk/en/0/hotel-saint-andre-des-arts-paris_486_en/index.html
