The 4th, 5th or 6th arrondisments in the city center are what you are looking for.
The 4th is the Isle St. Louis and the right bank area of the Marais. The 5th is the Latin Quarter and the 6th is the Faubourg St. Germaine (both on the Left Bank).
There are relatively inexpensive hotels in all three of these areas and they provide ready access, either by foot, Metro or bus to all the major tourist sights. |

I suggest you hotel Ascot Opera-rue Monsigny no.2 (arr. 2 ), a small one, in a quiet area, but very well located, just few minutes to walk to the Louvre, Garnier opera, Place de la Concorde, Place Vendome, hotel Ritz and so on....It's not an expensive hotel and you are very close to the "main" best places of Paris. |

Truthfully, nearly everywhere in Paris will do. Just make sure you're close to a subway (or better yet RER) station, and you can go everywhere in few minutes.
Personally I prefer staying in the 12th arrondissement when in Paris, but that's me |

You should stay around the Champs Elysees. There's plenty of choice. I recommend Hotel Tilsitt nea the Arc de Triomphe. You can walk to the Champs Elysees in 10 minutes. |
