I am a native french speaker, fluent in English and currently learning Spanish (Lo puedo hablar un poco). If this can help you, the best way to learn french is to first take a class to understand the pronunciation after that you can get any CD or french book to help. Find people on-line with whom you can practice, that has been valuable to me when i was learning English and now Spanish.

Bonne Chance!
Buena suerte!
Good Luck!

For a complete beginner, I can recommend trying a course from 'before you know it' www.byki.com

The program uses 'flash cards' with the additional bonus of audio accompaniment; one can then hear how the word should be pronounced.

The basic courses are FREE and are available for a variety of languages. I recently started the Italian course and learned 94 words and short phrases in the first week.

A more concisive course is available if you wish to progress, but the basic one is free and they never hassle you to upgrade.

I speak french fluently, so could help you if necessary.
