Although there's only 1 5-star resort in Nice (Hotel Negresco), there are several great 4-star resorts:
Massena Hotel
Boscolo Hotel Plaza
Hotel Nice Riviera
Hotel Beau Rivage
and the list goes on and on!

I checked a few websites and was surprised how hard it was to find 5 star hotels in Nice. There were plenty of 4 star places .... and i know the town very well, as part of our family come from there.
The best i could come up with was:

as for me Le Carlton is the best one and famous as well... Le Negresco is not bad too !...
in France, there is no 5 stars hotels, the maximum rate is 4 stars palaces called 4 stars "luxe"; even Hotels like Le crillon, Le Georges V in Paris which are known as the part of thes best hotels in town do not have a 5 stars rate
