What is the best thing to do in Paris, France?

I am going to Paris for five days in June and I want some tips. The kind of tips I am looking for are nightlife, nice but inexpensive shopping, and entertainment. I will already be going to the obvious places so please tell the not so obvious. Also it might help to know that I am in my late teens.

Take a boat trip on the Seine. Enjoy the restaurants and cafes: almost all restaurants are really good in France and much better than what you will find here. You can try the Moulin Rouge nightclub but it's not easy to get into--although you won't forget it if you do get into it. Spend a lot of time walking around in the old neighborhoods in the center of the city. There is nothing like them in the US. Bon voyage!

The restraunt food is really expensive! Becareful and make sure you know how much you are paying for stuff...I was stuck with a $50 bill for 2 cokes, fries, and eggs. The little bakery's are the place to be! Good food too! I'd have to say the hilite of my trip was going on a "Segway Tour" They have great tours and the guides are young and fun. The guides tell you things you never would have known and you get to ride around on a segway all day! You hit all the major stops in the city. Their business is located about 5 blocks from the eiffle tower...I really recommend this, it was a lot of fun. I don't remember the exact price but I think it was around $100 but well worth it!! If you do go try and schedule a day where it's not raining. Have fun!! I know you will!!

There is a great shopping center at La Defense. Just take the #1 Metro toward La Defense, get off there and you can just enter the shopping center without having to step outside. There are several great shops there...including an Auchan...sort of like a Wal-Mart Super Center, but with fresh seafood and aisles of wine.

Flea markets are always great places, if you're into bargaining. Some of the items are junk, but once in a while you'll find a diamond in the rough, among the worn suitcases and bongs.

In Pigalle, there is the Erotica Museum...the sex museum. It's an interesting place...where else can you get your photo taken by a 3-foot penis?

Montmartre also has inexpensive souvenirs. The artists at Place du Tertre can be a bit pricey, but it's fun to browse. In Montmartre, there's a restaurant called Auberge de la Bonne Franquette...Saturday nights, it's a hoot. There are these two entertainers, one sings and plays the guitar and the other one plays the accordion (and makes google-eyes at me). The food is great and it's a lot of fun.

Rue de Rivoli offers great souvenirs (some shops have 13 postcards for 1 Euro). The area near Notre Dame is good for souvenirs as well.

A cruise along the Seine is always fun, especially at night...hop aboard near the Eiffel Tower.

A day it will be enough to do(even several times)a big bus tour(there are 4 lines)and,so,you can see,of course from outside, all the beauties of Paris.Spend the rest of your time to do what you want, according to your desire and having the minimal information about Paris.Enjoy your trip.

Paris is an amazing city, there are so many things to do but it depends what you are into. There are so many museums such as the Louvres, the Musee d'Orsay, le musee Rodin ( better during the summer as a lot of the work is outside) there are very nice tours on the Seine on the 'Bateaux Mouches'. Notre Dame, Eiffel Tower, Le Sacre Coeur, L'Arc de Triomphe. I think the best way to visit Paris is by getting a very good map of the RER, METRO and a map that includes the museum. If you are into fun and games there are two theme parks: Disneyland Paris Resort and Parc Asterix. If you are only staying for a short period of time, you should decide on what you want to see.

My favorite thing to do when I am with friends that don't know Paris is to take them to two places:

-Go to the redlight district called Pigalle. That is if you are not in a large town and never experienced opened sex shop, X-rated DVD stores,... That will change your vision of things and show you crazy mad stuff. That is sort of touristy.

-But here is the thing no foreigner knows. You got to be from Paris or a party animal student to know that: if you want to go out at night and don't want to pay for your ticket entrance, you need to go to the Mix Club, on Thursday nights, because it is their student night. Show your passport, and you are in FREE in the hottest club in Paris with really sweet music.

Paris nightlife is just amazing! Be sure if walk along the Seine river in the evening, because that is when all the little shows are. Food is good in Paris... but better outside of paris... also food is very expensive. Be sure to go to Galleries de Lafayette... it s a great store... it s pricy... but you can get some good deals. Just enjoy the atmosphere, because you can never get the same atmosphere in north america... visit as many parks as you can... because they are gorgeous... just basically walk all around paris... and don't be shy to use the subway.. it gets you everywhere!

KitKat
Check out the Canadian bars..."The Beaver" (on Ile Saint-Louis) & "The Moose" (in the Latin Quarter).

What people will enjoy is always hard to predict without knowing the person.

I always hang out at a place called Aux Trois Mailletz at 56 rue Galande in the 5th arr. There's a night club type thing in the basement (which is a pretty typical location for things in Paris) but I just hang out on the main floor where there's a piano player and various singers. But perhaps the age group there is a bit older than you'd enjoy although there are a fair number of people in their 20's.

For a generally younger crowd try La Tavern de Cluny at 51, rue de la Harpe. Here's a page where you can read about them and even a little video:

The Pub St. Micel is another student place. Its at 19, quai Saint-Michel. They're shown on that same website at :

Forget the cabs and just walk the old neighborhoods. And don't forget to stop in at a creperie. You will be amazed at the different types. The Moulin Rouge is fantastic, if at all possible attend a show. It is a once in a lifetime experience. You will have a great time. Enjoy!!
