I live in France and we do not leave an additional tip unless there are extenuating circumstances. (Ex: the kids have made a big mess or the service was above and beyond our expectations.) |

Not all restaurants include service, in France the menu will usually have the words "service compris," if service is included. If the sevice and food was very good, it never hurts to leave a little more. I think you will see that most people will leave any small change left on the tray as a little extra tip. Trust me, no one will be insulted if you leave them extra money! Have a good trip! |

we usually do not tip unless it is a restaurant where we come regularly and then we leave a couple of euros to round the bill. |

I agree with Gerald
no one will be insulted by a tip. It is usually included in the price (15 % of the bill) but it is very true that a lot of people leave a little something or a really good tip if service or food was exceptionnal |

Le service est toujours compris dans la note mais une petite pièce sera bienvenue.
Or in english, the tip (To Insure Promptness) is, by default, included but a slight extra is appreciated. |

In most European countries, service and taxes are included in the bill. So you don't have to leave extra money unless you want to. |

Actually not, but people do tend to leave a euro or two or more, but its really not necessary if its included in the bill. |

You tip only if you want to.
Before the € we used to leave 10FF (1.56€). Now we tend to leave 1€,2€, 2.50€. It also depends on what you paid. You won't tip for only a cofee, for exemple, or you may leave 2€ for a 40€ bill.
Once more it is not mandatory. If I'm not satisfied with the service I don't tip |

No, it's not necessary, and if you are in a non-touristic area where the restaurants aren't used to foreign customers sometimes leaving a tip, it can be taken as a slight. |
