What is the daily calorie allowance in France? |
I have a feeling that what most people in the U.S. (where I currently live) believe that they require much more calories a day than they actually do. Everyone I challenge on this topic find many "health" websites to cite from, yet I still feel that Americans, even those who believe that they are eating healthy, eat more than most in other countries.
Can anyone give some input on this subject? For example, I have been told that women need 2,000 calories a day. This seems too high. |

That is wrong to me. They say that but I only eat about 1500 usually less. If you want to lose you need to eat 1200 a day and exercise. But people shouldn't eat just to eat. Eat only when hungry.Portion control.Height matters too. I'm only like 5,5 so I have to watch out:) |

The problem is not the numbers, which are not mere matters of opinion but scientific realities that don't change from country to country.
Exact calorie requirements vary by gender, height, and age, among other things.
The difficulty is that most people haven't a clue as to how many calories they are actually consuming or even what they are actually eating.
Study after study has demonstrated that people vastly underestimate how much they are eating and the caloric content of their diet. This is one reason that most physicians will begin treating obesity by having the patient scrupulously record everything they eat. Most people are chagrined to discover they are consuming two or three times as many calories as they thought.
Unfortunately, especially in the USA, we have developed a culture in which people invariably look to blame something, anything, but themselves for conditions that are, in fact, wholly their own responsibility and/or look for easy fixes.
Thus the typical fat tub of lard who swears that they eat nothing but still put on weight and wants some magic pill to correct their supposed metabolic or glandular disorder. Billions are made by exploiting these idiots.
Americans are fat because they eat too much not because they are misled about how much they ought to eat. A typical McDonalds meal consisting of a Big Mac, medium fries, and a milk shake has 1,680 calories (and 74 grams of fat!), very close to the total number of calories needed in a day (and more fat than anyone seeking to avoid dying of heart disease at 40 should consume). |

People in France are usually beautiful slender and healthy (very rarely obese), using about 1.5 to 2x less calories intake than in the US. Also they walk a lot (Paris metro, less cars...) |

2500 for a man.
But to loose or just make sure your within your range
1500 is fine for a women
and 2000 is fine for a man
Im from the UK & the calorie intake average is the same there as here in america.
Just most of the time ppl here dont stick to it because Taco Bell & Mcdonalds are so easy |
