I suggest the Pont Alexandre III, a bridge over the Seine which is considered to be one of the most beautiful bridges anywhere.

If you've ever seen the movie Desirée its the place where the Jean Simmons character meets the Michael Rennie character.

Its totally gorgeous and buildings on either side of the river where it is set are also beautiful. Standing on the bridge and looking to the west you see the Eiffel tower.

Cheack out this photo: http://www.terragalleria.com/europe/france/paris/picture.fran2836.html

In France, I'd say go to either the Eifel Tower or to the Palace in Versailles. Both places are breathtaking. Or you could take a nice romantic stroll somewhere in the Alps. Or you could go to any one of the beautiful beaches there in Europe! Take care and have fun.

If you were in Italy, in Milan, there is an exquisite duomo (cathedral) downtown. The piazza in front of it is the heart of evening life in Milan. Surrounding the piazza are shops, the first covered mall, ,many cafes, and places to get wonderful gelato.

You can take an afternoon tour of the duomo, admiring the artwork and unique carvings, walking on the rooftop and all around the huge building. Just outside the huge front doors would be a very romantic and public place to ask for your fiancee's hand in marriage.

There is this park in Rome near the Spanish steps that you can see the whole city from. It is amazing. There are lot of park benches with young Italian couples on them and guys selling roses. I was there about 10 years ago and I still think it was the most romantic place I have ever seen. The sun was setting too which is amazing over the Eternal city.
