If you're going to France as a tourist then you need not be concerned about language barriers.
Millions of tourists visit France, and more specifically Paris, every year. Most of them don't speak French and they manage to have a good time without difficulties. English is the language that everyone, from Hottentots to Finns learns as their second language these days.
Since, apparently, your native tongue is English you have it especially easy as almost everyone involved in the hospitality industry, from hotel clerks to waiters speaks at least some English.
As for a direct answer to your question, Paris is the place where the highest percentage of people speak English. |

There is no "English speaking region in France"!!!
The language in France is French period.
But I think the highest % of people who speak English is in the Ile-de-France (Paris) region. Plus, there are many Brits expats in South-West France (especially in Dordogne).
Learn few words of French, be polite, never abord someone in English, and it will be ok. You will find many people ready to help you in English. |

there is no specific region where people speak more English that others, you will always find someone to speak English to you,
do not let that prevent you from having a good visit.besides? you can always run into other English speaking people.
i am French, and in my city? i have always ran into some English speaking people, and so glad to speak to them, help with directions, finding things for them.
made some friends that way,and continue to correspond with them, via emails,
so? just go and enjoy it..you will love it. |

If you go to Perigord in the South-West, you'll only encounter Britts... but will you have visited France ?
Just don't worry. I know we have a reputation of anti-americanism but it's untrue. More and more people speak english and if someone doesn't, someone else will jump in and help.
You need four word of french : bonjour, s'il vous plait, merci, au revoir.
Enjoy ! |
