Surely no Mc Do and Co. French like their neighborhood Restaurants where they know the Chef and get good, fresh food.

If by popular you mean who sells the most meals, then I would think McDonalds would actually be a strong contender. If you ignore fast food restaurants then there are other chain restaurants such as Leon de Bruxelles, Buffalo Grill, Courtepaille, Chez Clement, which are pretty common.

If you mean which is the most highly regarded then it's difficult to say as it's largely a matter of personal preference - French people tend to hold strong personal views on food and drink. Many people walk past 2 or 3 bakers to go to one which is, in their opinion, better.

The Jules Verne is certainly an excellent restaurant, but probably the most famous is La Tour D'Argent, also in Paris.

Actually, there are tons of McDonald's restaurants around Paris, and probably some Burger Kings, too.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'popular,' though. The ritziest is definitely the restaurant in the Eiffel Tower--actually there are two, but "le Jules Verne" is definitely the pricier. Another great idea for tourists who want to eat out isn't actually a restaurant, per se. You can take a bateau mouche--passenger boats that run up and down the river Seine, right through Paris--in the evening, if you book in advance, and eat a very nice meal with a fantastic view of the city.

Hope that helped some!
