La Marseillaise, and the music is one of the best known hymn in the whole world.
Its first name was : war song for the Rhine army, but it was later called La Marseillaise because the troops from Marseille sang it when they arrived in Paris. (La Marseillaise means only something or someone from Marseille).
It became the national anthem on the 14th July 1795.
If you want to listen to it :

The translation into English is a bit strange, and way less blood thirsty than the original |

France National Anthem: La Marseillaise (The Song of Marseilles)
listenListen to the National Anthem
Ye sons of France, awake to glory,
Hark, hark, what myriads bid you rise:
Your children, wives and grandsires aging,
See their tears and hear their cries,
See their tears and hear their cries!
Shall hateful tyrants mischief breeding
With hireling Hosts, a ruffian band
Affright and desolate the land,
While peace and liberty lie bleeding?
CHORUS
To arms, to arms, ye brave!
ThMarch on! march on!
All hearts resolved on victory or death.
O sacred love of Francy, undying,
ThThy defenders, death defying,
Fight with Freedom at their side.
Soon they sons shall be victorious
When the banner high is raised;
And they dying enemies, amazed,
Shall behold they triumph, great and glorious.
CHORUS |

Arise children of the fatherland
The day of glory has arrived
Against us tyranny's
Bloody standard is raised
Listen to the sound in the fields
The howling of these fearsome soldiers
They are coming into our midst
To cut the throats of your sons and consorts
To arms citizens
Form you battalions
March, march
Let impure blood
Water our furrows
What do they want this horde of slaves
Of traitors and conspiratorial kings?
For whom these vile chains
These long-prepared irons?
Frenchmen, for us, ah! What outrage
What methods must be taken?
It is we they dare plan
To return to the old slavery!
What! These foreign cohorts!
They would make laws in our courts!
What! These mercenary phalanxes
Would cut down our warrior sons
Good Lord! By chained hands
Our brow would yield under the yoke
The vile despots would have themselves be
The masters of destiny
Tremble, tyrants and traitors
The shame of all good men
Tremble! Your parricidal schemes
Will receive their just reward
Against you we are all soldiers
If they fall, our young heros
France will bear new ones
Ready to join the fight against you
Frenchmen, as magnanimous warriors
Bear or hold back your blows
Spare these sad victims
Who with regret are taking up arms against us
But not these bloody despots
These accomplices of BouillĹ˝
All these tigers who pitilessly
Are ripping open their mothers' breasts (womb)
We shall enter into the pit
When our elders will no longer be there
There we shall find their ashes
And the mark of their virtues
We are much less jealous of surviving them
Than of sharing their coffins
We shall have the sublime pride
Of avenging or joining them
Sacred Love for the Fatherland
Lead and support our avenging arms
Liberty, cherished liberty
Join the struggle with your defenders
Under our flags, let victory
hasten to you virile (or manly) force
So that in death your enemies
See your triumph and our glory!
(Drive on sacred patriotism
Support our avenging arms
Liberty, cherished liberty
Join the struggle with your defenders
Under our flags, let victory
Hurry to your evil tone
So that in death your enemies
See your triumph and our glory!) |

La Marseilleise
Aux armes, citoyens !
Formez vos bataillons !
Marchons, marchons !
Qu'un sang impur...
Abreuve nos sillons !
1/Allons ! Enfants de la Patrie !
Le jour de gloire est arrivé !
Contre nous de la tyrannie,
L'étendard sanglant est levé ! (Bis)
Entendez-vous dans les campagnes
Mugir ces féroces soldats ?
Ils viennent jusque dans vos bras
Égorger vos fils, vos compagnes. |

It is called "the Dance of the Snake Charmer" and it goes like this:
"There's a place in France where the ladies wear no pants. There's a hole in the wall where the men can see it all." |
