I'd say the area around pont st louis (east side of ile de la cite and west side of ile st louis)
It's right next to a small garden, and just behind "notre dame". It's a lot smaller than luxembourg garden, which makes it a lot nicer.
And you have the added bonus to be able to watch the seine exactly where it hits "ile de la cite" and watch the boats move around. (a lot more interesting than watching the ducks fight each other for a piece of bread in the fountain of luxembourg...)

To be honest, I'm completely biased about it since it's the place I kissed a girl for the 1st time.

le arc de triumph

walk up the stairs, and the view is amazing (the streets are arranged in a star! :))

the Eiffel tower is a must, but my favorite place, because I love history so much, was the Palace of Versailles, its gorgeous and rich in history.

May I say two? First of all is the Luxembourg Gardens in the Latin quartier( the Sorbonne university, the Pantheon, the boulevards St. Michel and St.Germain) and the second is the Champs Elysees avenue from Place de la Concorde to the Place de l'Etoile.

Have to agree with the Luxembourg Gardens. An oasis in the middle of the city...especially the reflecting pool.
Also on hot evenings enjoy sitting under the Tour Eiffel where there is always a cool breeze and people from around the world pass by.
Last but not least, any cafe/bistro by a metro station where you can sit for hours and watch the comings and goings of other peoples lives pass in front of you while you sip a wine or coffee.

But to be very honest. Being anywhere in Paris is better then being anywhere else.

The catacoombs! I have the best pictures! ^_^ And also, if I could ever live there, I'd want to live in Fontenay aux Roses, in the little house down the street from my husband's old apartment. The community was so nice, and so untouristy. Also, the Pain au Chocolate at the neighborhood bakery was the best I've ever had.

Hi there, well i've only been once for 8 hours (was on a cruise) but I really enjoyed notre dame. Beautiful on the inside and so much history. Of course, the Eiffel Tower isn't one to miss either, but we didn't have enough time to go up, we only got our pictures in front of it, but I have proof that I was there! =)

Why on God's green Earth would anyone want to visit? But I guess if I had to it would be the nearest sewer. It smells better than the people.

my two favorite places to visit in paris are both underground. First off there is a cool sewer tour that starts across from pont d'alma. the second place that is cool to visit are the catacombs. you walk down 60 meters of stairs and there is a tunnel you walk through that is probably a couple of miles long. there are thousands of bones just lined up along the path. not a good place to go if you're clausterphobic.
