Incredible all-you-can-eat gourmet buffet.

Le Gastroquet, 10 rue Desnouettes, in the 15th. We had dinner there on our last night of our trip and it was awesome. The owners, a husband and wife (he's the chef) were so friendly that he came out of the kitchen and took pictures with us and let us wear his hat. They were celebrating with us when they learned that we were on our 30th Anniversary trip. The food was excellent too and it was our favorite meal after 10 days in Paris!!

OK - I just had to answer this question because I have an absolute favorite restaurant in Paris, but I can't remember the name! It is located in the middle of the Champs ElysÃ©es (if you're facing the Arc de Triumphe it is on your left-hand side on the corner of a cross-street). Across the street is a market/grocery store. It is an Italian restaurant (yes, it's not French) that makes the most wonderful wood-fired authentic Italian pizza! The ambiance is wonderful, the views are fabulous (especially if you eat upstairs near the window which overlooks the Champs ElysÃ©es), the servers and staff are wonderful, and unless you go on a holiday the prices are very reasonable compared to other prices of nearby restaurants.

There are other Italian restaurants on the Champs ElysÃ©es that are not as good, so I will try to find the name of it and post it here.

Rillifane

La Methode at 2 rue Descartes in the 5th arrondissement.

Its tucked away in a little corner just a few blocks from the Pantheon. The food is great. The prices are moderate. The owner and staff are pleasant. Its the type of place where on your second visit you are greeted as an old friend and by your third like a member of the family.

My favourite in Paris when my wife and I want to treat ourselves is young chef Cyril Lignac restaurant Le Quinzieme http://www.restaurantlequinzieme.com in the 15th arrondissement ( 14 rue Cauchy). The service is fantastic. It is a gastronomic restaurant (higher price range) with great value for money. Cyril has set a very modern and creative menu. Some of the meals are inspired from his cooking show on French TV. The restaurant design is modern and relaxing. It is surprising to be able to watch whatâ€™s going on in the kitchen through a window as you are seated at your table. Cyril is very friendly and personally great his guests at the end of the service. A great gourmet experience in Paris.

My favourite is Wagon Bleu on Rue Boursault in the 17e - it may be a bit out of the way but it is just opposite the Rome metro stop and this often neglected part of town is well worth a trip. This small restaurant is actually a renovated dining car from the Orient Express and has a lovely atmosphere as well as excellent food and friendly service (if you don't speak much French, don't worry - the staff speak good English). The prices are also very reasonable considering the quality of the food - you would pay far more than this for a similar meal in the centre of Paris, especially considering the elegant surroundings. I last went in November and had a great 3-course meal with a kir, wine, water and digestif for about Â£45. My other top choice (seafood fans only) would be Charlot, Roi des Coquillages, which is opposite the Pathe cinema on Place de Clichy (just along from McDonalds) and is pricey but fabulous - also handy for the Moulin Rouge if you're making a night of it! This whole area is my favourite part of Paris to eat and stay - I go about three times a year.

My favorite is Les Canons des Gobelins, outside the Gobelins metro station at boulevard Arago. The waiters are professional, but also have senses of humor. On one visit, I happened to have a bouquet of roses, and one of the waiters teased me about bringing him flowers.

When I was younger it used to be the "Cafe Renault" on the Champs Elysee as I was a car fanatic and they had a vintage car museum in there. Unfortunately the only restaurant I have eaten in in Paris recently was the Au Bon Pain at the airport
