Walking is fun. Paris is a great city for going for walks. It has a lot of sites to see. You can see most of the major attractions in Paris by travelling from one to the other by foot if you have the time. You do not necessarily have to take the mÃ©tro to see the Eiffel Tower if you are already in the center of Paris.

Try walking in the region near the cathedral of Notre Dame. The Seine is spanned by a lot of little bridges. You could take a walk along the Rive Gauche, or Left Bank as it is called in English. A stroll down the Champs-Ã‰lysÃ©es, which leads to the Place de la Concorde would be a great activity for tourists. Look up some museums such as the Louvre Museum. Some of the architecture is worth exploring. For example, the OpÃ©ra and the Place de la Madeleine would be highly recommended. Of course, you would want to see the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe. Exploring the district of Monmartre, frequented by intellectuals during the time of the 'Gay Nineties' and beyond,by foot is another option. In fact, it would be difficult to see some parts of Paris by vehicle. You can always step into a shop, bistro, outdoor cafÃ© or restaurant for a cafÃ© au lait or some food.

Walking, or going for walks, is an inexpensive way to have fun and take in the ambience of a place almost anywhere you go.

Walking alone in the streets instead of attending my lessons at the university (I'm French). That's great, when you know all the others are listening to the teacher and that you've got the whole day to go wherever you want in Paris !! Not every day of course. Only sometimes, I wake up and think : no class today. Just me and Paris !
