What stores are open on Sunday in Paris? |
I'm going to Paris for one day only (for a exhibition) and it's a sunday. Are there some malls or something open on Sunday? [I'm a young woman, so I look for stores like Camaieu, Bershka, Promod etc,] Any chance? Additional Details no, I actually can't. It's too expensive with a hotel stay overnight. Thanks anyway. Too bad! |

Your best bet is Le 66, on the Champs Elysées (66 being the street number): it's a large clothing store with different brands. It's open every Sunday 11:00 am - 8:00 pm.
You don't say when you are going but if it's in December, most malls and department stores are open the 3 or 4 Sundays before Christmas. The most famous malls in Paris are:
- les Halles (RER Châtelet-les-Halles) in the very center, but it's always crowded;
- Montparnasse (métro Montparnasse-Bienvenue) much better in my opinion, because quieter and better kind of clientele.
- Outside Paris in La Défense (métro or RER la Défense) there is also a big mall.
Famous department stores are BHV, Galeries Lafayette, le Printemps but walking along Boulevard St-Germain or any major street you'll find all the stores you are looking for without going to a mall or a department store. But all those are closed on Sundays outside the Christmas season. As for staying one more day, hotels are as low as 40 € a night.
The outlet store in Marne-la-Vallée is open every Sunday but it's a good 35 minutes outside Paris by the RER (RER Val d'Europe). Check if they have any of the stores you are looking for: http://www.lavalleevillage.com/lavallee/village/default.asp?lan=en |

There aren't too many American-style malls in Paris, and the ones that they do have will not have any open stores. Almost all stores are closed by law on Sunday. They have to pay a fine to stay open. The Virgin store on the Champs Elysees is usually open. There may be a store here or there in tourist areas. Occasionally, you can find a boutique open along a market street. Grocery stores and convenience stores (called Alimentation General) may be open at least part of the day. The St. Ouen flea market should be open. Many or most street markets will also be open (Montorgueil and Mouffetard will be open for sure). |

No Chance. Sundays are the worst for travelers there since everything is shut down. Can you extend your stay? |

I think most stores are closed on Sundays, but there's been "pressure" to rethink this regulation - perhaps you'll be in luck - I was last there about 2 years ago, nothing open. Here's a link to some informative websites that might be helpful. If you haven't already booked your flights, you might seriously think about arriving on a Saturday, or even better, a Friday :-)) |
