Versailles is just outside the city so visiting in no problem. But there are tons of things to do in the city as well. You have the Louvre, the Orangerie, Eifel Tower, Cham Elyses, Rodan's sculptures, plus Notre Dame. Not to mention all the cool places to eat.

Try to make an evening visit of Saint Germain, the Quartier Latin and Saint Michel. They are in districts 5 adn 6th. To me, they are the nicest part of Paris.

oh my goodness i am extremely jealous
i love Paris, its beautiful

Well, i would go shopping down the Champs Elysee then go to the arc de triomphe and obviously to the Tour Eiffel

next i would go to the Louvre, take the boat taxi down the river to all of these you get one ticket and you can ride around to them as many times as you want all day. its really scenic and relaxing :]

and yes you can definitely go to Versailles and i would highly reccomend going around the city while you are there (not just to the castle) because its beautiful! its only about 45 minutes away

Paris is one of the places that has a lot of tourist attraction. There are lost of things to do and trust me seven days is not long.

2 great day trips would be Versailles and Giverny (Monet's garden). However, Giverny is closed in the winter, not sure if you're going soon or in the spring/summer. There are bus tours available to both of these.
Things to do in Paris would be:
climb the Eiffel Tower
go to the Louvre
Arc de Triomphe
Musee d'Orsay
Notre Dame de Paris
Luxembourg Gardens
Moulin Rouge
do a boat ride on the Seine
shop on the Champs-Elysees

I wouldn't want to go into Paris; it's probably sickly and full of STDs and- OH YOU MEANT THE COUNTRY. Yeah, Paris is good.
