If you plan to visit museums, you should know that most of them are closed on Tuesdays. And try to aviod the weekends too, it'll be less crowded during the week.

In 9 days you could see many things !
- Le Louvre : you can spend a whole day in teh museum, but you won't have time to see everything, so choos what you really want to see
- Musée d'Orsay
- Versailles (1 full day)
- Notre Dame, and climb the towers, the gargoyles at the tops are amazing, and you'll have a very nice view, the climbing worth it
- Montmartre, visit the Sacré Coeur, and climb in the towers too, the view on Paris is awsome from up there !
- the area of Butte aux Cailles, if the weather is good, it's very nice to have a walk there, you'll have the impression to be in the country and not in Paris anymore !
- Saint Michel and the Quartier Latin, Rue Monge... those areas are very nice
- Parc Buttes Chaumont, a very nice parc, where you can walk or rest, if the weather is good

That's a good thing to try to learn a few French words, it'll help you.

hello = bonjour
good bye = au revoir
please = s'il vous plait
thank you = merci
where are the restroom = ou sont les toilettes
1, 2, 3, 4, 5 = un, deux, trois, quatre, cinq

coffee = café
tea = thé
hot chocolate = chocolat chaud
coke = coca
water = eau
still water = eau platte
parkling water = eau gazeuse

If you don't want to pay the water in a restaurant ask for "une carafe d'eau" (a jug of water)

Can I pay with credit card ? = je peux payer par carte ?
I'm looking for an ATM = je cherche un distributeur de billets

You can also buy a conversational guide (harrap's or lonely planet...) it'll help you. That's what I do when I travel abroad.

ok... I got nothing more in mind right now... Let me know if you need more advice !
