What to wear in Paris?

I am going to Paris at the end of May. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to bring with me to wear.

The temperature in Paris in late May will range between the high 60's and the low 50's. You can expect a fair amount of rain. Make sure you have good wet weather gear.

You will find that women tend to be a bit dressier in Paris than in the States.

Black is always a good choice for clothing color and that goes double for Paris. As soon as you get there you will want to go to Hermes and buy yourself a gorgeous scarf. French women have a knack for making big fashion statements with their scarves (and everyone seems to be wearing one at all times).

Avoid sweatsuits, exercise clothes, and anything with writing on it. the caricature of a tourist is a someone wearing a track suit in some loud colors, fanny pack, baseball cap, and trainers.

On the other hand, don't totally forsake comfort for style. They're going to know you're a tourist unless you speak fluent French so disguising your status is not practical.

I live in France and go frequently to Paris. You really don't have to care about what to wear. Just wear anything you like. And remember that it's gonna be quite hot.

We often see in France foreign tourists who dress in a kind of poshy way because they think eveyboy dress in Chanel or so :p

My only tip would be to avoid wearing baseball cap+shorts+tight shirts that show your belly...whenever I cross people dressing like that in my city, they are American tourists. I'm sorry, it sounds a bit like a cliché but it's what I noticed.

Bon voyage :D

ONE OF THOSE HATS THAT ARE POOFY AND HAVE A BEAK TYPE THING, LIKE A BASEBALL HAT? I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S CALLED, SO SORRY.........

You should bring whatever you might bring to New York, Philadelphia, Washington, or Chicago. As long as you are a tourist, wear whatever is comfortable. I was in Paris in March, and I found the temperatures to be warmer than they were in the Washington DC area.

If you are going on business, dress appropriately for whatever business you are involved with.

Don't bring too many clothes. Use separates. And bring comfortable shoes. This is important because we did a lot of walking.

when i traveled to France, i noticed that the French are fashion crazy!! (in a good way). If you dont have any fashionable clothing, just stick with some fashionable jeans and a black coat, or blouse with shoes. dont wear white socks. they'll know your american ;)

Wow, I've been to Paris and I came back home with the impression that people didn't really dress up over there. I thought I'd find nicely dressed people but I never really did. All they really do is mix and match everything they have on. That's really their style- mixing and matching. I was so shocked when I went because I would see some of the oddest styles. I wouldn't say they dress in a fashionable way. As to what you should wear, wear whatever you want.

if you don't have money for designer clothes, just wear clothes that look fashionable. dresses would be my favorite, cute bags, accesories. anything that floats your boat really. have fun!!

You know what Ann go in clothes that above all you feel comfortable in but that make you look classy and sophisticated. French women have a tendency to look nice wherever they go so you might want to base your wardrobe off of that. Take different pairs of shows. Cute tennis shoes for the walking, sexy heels for dinner, and perhaps some rain boots in case it rains in May. Have fun and feel confident in whatever you decide to wear!

Having been to Paris before I noticed that Europeans dress up more than Americans when going out - even to just run errands. I would buy some nice clothes that are versatile in terms of being able to dress them up with accessories but at the same time are easy to care for (i.e. non ironing).
