It really depents on what it is you like to see more. Art, architecture, history (Roman, Rennaisance, etc), cuisine, wine country, etc.
My ideal trip, however, would start in Lyon were the cuisine is exceptional and work my way down the Rhone to Avignon. All the more so if you are a fan of wines. From there, work your way through Provence down to the Mediterarean coast. Drive East along the coast to Cannes, Nice, and Monte Carlo (all very nice anytime of the year). And then fly out of Nice back to Paris. |

I would spend several days in Paris, as it is one of the best "walking" cities in the world. Eat at random local places and never miss breakfast with a good cup of coffee and some fresh bread. Make sure you buy an Orange Card for unlimited access to the Metro. Take a train to Normandy and see the landing beaches, do not miss visiting the Mont Saint Michel. If you have a car, visit some small rural French cities. The French people are very nice and despite the stereotypes, I think they actually like Americans - especially one's that are polite and appreciate being in another country, rather than those who get ticked off that they can't visit Wal-Mart and McDonalds! Have a great trip! |
