Montmartre is the bohemian area of Paris, home to many artists. Place du Tertre is where all the painters showcase their artwork for sale.

I love the area. Sacre-Coeur Basilica is the beautiful white-domed church atop the hill of Montmartre. It is the natural highest point in Paris, offering spectacular panoramic views.

To get there, a closer Metro stop is Anvers. You'll still have to climb the stairs to reach the top, but it's worth it. While you're in the area and want to see the Moulin Rouge, take the Metro to the Blanche stop...you'll be across the street.

It is called Montmatre. Take the Metro to the Pigalle station. Walk about 2 blocks and then take the funiculaire up to Montmatre. When you get off the lift, you will be in front of a big church. You need to walk a few blocks in either direction to get to the main area. In the main area, there is the place where all the artists set up shop.

there are more tourist than artist in Montmatre,
the artist are no longer in Paris it's too expensive for them, they nearly all moved to the suburb.
But the areas where the are still some artist are the Bastille area, rue Oberkampf, some still live in Montmartre

Montmartre is where the Artists Square is and the top designer boutiques are in Faubourgt St Honoré as well as in Avenue Montaigne.

Huck
Sometimes called the "Left Bank" and sometimes called "Montmartre."
