Two years ago, I stayed in a hotel less than a block from Gare d'Austerlitz. I took metro ligne 5 direction Bobigny to Gare du Nord, and caught RER B direction Roissy/CDG. There was a fairly long flight of steps up to the platform, so be aware of that. Also, don't forget that going to the airport requires more than a regular metro ticket!

Rillifane's way should also work, according to my Paris metro/RER map, but I haven't ever been to the station at St. Michel/Notre Dame.

The RER is getting pretty shady these days. So if you want a safe way to go. Take the "roissy bus". It starts at Opera and costs 8 euros and takes you there directly. Plus its very safe unlike the RER because if you get on the wrong one, it will make stops at every train station from Gare du Nord to CDG. So best bet is the Roissy Bus.

Rillifane
Take the RER C marked "Direction : Boulevard Victor" to the
Saint-Michel Notre-Dame stop and transfer to the RER B marked "Aeroport Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV"

a taxi if you have alot of luggage. Otherwise you are manuvering stairs, people and an environment you might not be comfortable with-- worth the money unless you are used to learning trains/train stations quickly with luggage.
