Where can I get a map of the toll free roads in france?

Any road but the motorways / state highways (autoroutes) are toll free. On the French maps the motorways are a double red line with a yellow line in the middle. All the motorways in France have names starting with A and their number. A1, A2, A3, etc.

Here is the motorways network

It is NOT correct to say that all autoroutes in France are toll roads altho' most of them are. parts of the A26 in northern France are toll-free. However, generally speaking A Roads (autoroutes) are toll paying. You can pay by cash or card and your tickets are timed so that if you exceed the speed limit on the autoroute, when you leave this fact is calculated by the toll ticket machine and an automatic fine imposed. Of course you can get round this by taking a short break at an "aire" to reduce your average speed. A map of the autoroute system is available, which includes the tolls payable over various lengths of the road, from the French Tourist Office which, I think, is in Picadilly.

I think if you log on to the via michellin site they tell you which roads are toll free as well as informing you of speed camera locations etc. good luck

In France, we only pay toll to use highways/motorways ou "autoroutes".
All the other types of roads - "nationales", "departementales", etc are free.
