Some restaurants provide cheap meals too:
- indian restaurants sometimes have three course meals for 8 Euros
- chinese restaurants and take-aways are generally quite cheap too
- restaurants in some poor neighbourhoods (Belleville, Barbes) are generally very cheap
- you may find pizzerias with meals for less than 8 or 9 Euros.
- some brasseries provide large dishes (typically salads) from 6 to 8 Euros

Meals are generally cheaper on midday and weekdays than they are in the evening and on weekends.

Bakeries (les boulangeries, which are all over the place) are a pretty good deal. They have sandwiches, quiches, meat filled pastries, French style "pizza," and for desert, you have the most wonderful selection of pastries available in the world.

Otherwise, you have fast foods like McDonald's and Quick (a European chain).

you can buy bread and meat/cheese in the supermarket and eat in a park

but if you want to eat in a resto, i suggest looking for small cafés / small restos rather than mcdo or quick. unless you want a hamburger?

some of those small places have meals like a sandwhich, a drink and desert for 5 or 6 euros. or u could go to a kebab place (those are really yummy too) for about the same price. it all depends on the area and the store. if the resto has tablecloths, i suggest stay away.

Sandwiches and stuff like that... And if you're a student, at the CROUS restaurants for students all over the city (about 6€).

Dude, you know what, if you have a little patience, I would definitely try this. You go to a bakery, buy yourself a good old "baguette" (french bread). Then you go to one of those small supermarkets, they're all over the place. There you get salted butter from Britain, Bayonne ham at a "Charcuterie" (the best out there with the Italian Aoste and the Corsican ham.. u can pick those too), and fresh salad. Just fix yourself the sandwich, it's gonna be over a foot long, simple, absolutely delicious, filling.. for not even 6 euros. You even have extra money for a drink and a pastry at a "Boulangerie". Enjoy and Bon appetit ;)

Paris has many local outdoor markets with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Here you can stock up on the local specialties. Then, visit a local bakery and indulge in some of the french pastries. My favorites: chocolate croissants and the fresh baguettes. Ask a local or the hotel receptionist for a local grocery store. Here you can buy sandwich meats, etc. Then, have a picnic. Don 't forget the wine! Bon apetite! Forget McDonald's - unless you are literally starving. Also, there are outdoor crepe stands that sell sweet and savory crepes. I've found these in the Latin Quarter but am sure they are everywhere. My favorites: Nutella crepes and ham and cheese crepes. If you are creative it shouldn't be a problem eating in Paris for $10.00 or less.

If you are staying at a hotel or hostel that serves breakfast (and most do) stash an apple or a pastry in your bag before you leave.

Au Revoir!

There is a prepared foods section in most MONOPRIX stores. They have salads, sandwiches, yogurt, drinks and desserts. It's a grab and go situation and can be helpful if you're planning to stock your backpack with some food and go to a park or someplace scenic to eat...or back to your hotel/home.

"Mr. Pibb + red vines = crazy delicous" (but not available in France.)
