In north Paris it's cheaper.
Ibiss hotels are also not that expensive and have a reasonable quality. |

the Da Vinci was nice, but it is also the only one I stayed at.
terrible breakfast, i was so damn sick of croissants I can't eat them to this day. The putting green, pool tables, good bar, and nice rooms make up for it. |

The Hotel Tiquetonne at 6 rue Tiquetonne is a classic cheap sleep. A double can be had for as little as € 50 a night. Its in the Chatelet/Les Halles vicinity which is an excellent central location.
Hostels are another good choice for a cheap place to stay. The ones on this website are reliable: http://www.cheaphostel.com/ |

Hang around in a bar in the centre and pick up someone of the opposite (or same?) sex. |

Well, depends on what "cheap" is for you..... for me 56-60 EUR per night was pretty decent for a 1-person, private bathroom little room near Gare de Lyon..... the name of the hotel is ADRIATIC and it's on RUE DE LYON, just a block and a half away from the Gare de Lyon metro station. Their website is: http://www.adriatic-paris-hotel.com/ ... you can make your reservation on line without a down payment (you do need to provide your credit card number though) and get a slightly better price.
You can also check on hotels.fr where they have many options to choose from..... I was there just a week ago and already miss it!!!! |

Husa Grand hotel Montmartre. Its cheap but nice, and includes breakfast. Its 2 blocks from the moulin rouge, but also close to the opera garnier. |

go to www.craigslist.org click on the housing/share section for Paris..you can find good deals, especially if you're not travelling alone and can therefore share the price of the rent per/week or per/day with someone else... |

Hotel St. Sebastian
La Rue St. Sebastian (St. Sebastian Street)
It's cheap, decent clean rooms, and near Bastille which is a beautiful part of the city. I think it was only $65 a night.
FYI, they don't speak English in this hotel. |

If you want real cheap, you can stay at camping du trembley (sp?) outside of the city center. The only problem is that transportation in and out of the center city will be expensive daily.
Good Luck. |
