From Paris, the nearest beaches are in Normandy. You have a choice of destinations there (from north to south/west):
- Etretat (pebble beaches and cliffs)
- Honfleur (old town, typical harbor)
- Deauville, Trouville and Houlgate (large sandy beaches, typical seaside resorts)
- Arromanches and area further west (D Day beaches)
- Manche western coast (coast of the 'havres')
- Mount Saint Michel bay
You may also choose Britanny's closest towns, which are a bit further west
- La Turballe
- La Baule
- Carnac
- La Trinité sur Mer
- Quiberon (sea resort located on a peninsula) |

The above answer is really good. For the beach, I'd especially recommend Deauville--It's a classic French beach town, historically very sophisticated.
You might want to go to Reims, about 1 1/2 to the East (by train or car). It's the city where all the Kings were consecrated and is in someways the birth place of France; there are lots WWI and WWII sites and museums in the area as well.
If you can get to Mont St Michel, you won't regret it. It's very impressive. |

The area around Deauville is good, just note: the Normandy
beaches can get crowded with tourist around June 6 (D-Day).
Mount St Michelle can be fun also, but again, expect lots of tourist. |

These kids know what they're talking about. I second Etretat and Deauville. Amuse-toi bien! |
