Where is the best place to spend christmas in the french alps?
One of my favorite places in the French Alps is a town called Annecy. It is built on Lake Annecy. It is small town charm with it's own chateau, a chocolate shop, nice cafes and eating places, cobbled streets, a lovely market with cheeses, french pastries, sausages, etc. etc. There are ski-ing resorts within easy driving distance, Albertville, home of the 1992 winter olympics is 30 min. drive. You can also drive to Geneva, Switzerland in an hour and a half if you are interested.
