Versailles is not in Paris.

Versailles is outside Paris (south-west). From Quai Voltaire you have a direct RER, line C : station "Musee d'Orsay", RER C5 takes you to "Versailles Rive Gauche" it's the closest station from the Château de Versailles. It takes 30 to 45 mn from Paris to Versailles by RER.

Yellow line C5 on the map : http://www.aparisguide.com/maps/rer.htm

Versailles is N°18 on this map : http://paris-tourisme.com/map/plan_banlieue.html

Versailles is about 15 MILES OUTSIDE PARIS

Rammy
Versailles is about 20 miles outside of Paris, and you can only get there by RER (as a tourist with no car).

If you want a detailed map with all the other major monuments within Paris on, go on the RATP website (ratp.fr) then click on the Union Jack right at the top, it will translate it into English. Then click on 'Finding your way' then 'Tourist Bus Lines Map'. The second link is a great map with all the famous monuments on, as well as the bus routes. There are also various metro maps on the website.

Hope that helps!

Versailles IS outside of Paris, but here are a few links I found that relate the monuments in Paris.

Having stayed in Paris for quite sometime, I know that the only way to get to Versailles is with the RER. If possible, use your map and figure out which number the Du Quai Voltaire stop is on and trace it to either Gare du Nord or the station by Montparnasse...here's a map of the RER train route.

hope this helps! Good Luck
