Which is the best hotel in Paris near all the tourist attractions < Eiffel tower specially >. Walking distance?

Which is the best hotel in Paris near all the tourist attractions < Eiffel tower specially >. Walking distance, clean and 3 star, around 100 to 150$.

PS if I take a tour on Segway to Eiffel Tower, should I go in the Day time or Night time ?

Thanks

I'm going to stick my neck out and say that getting a hotel close to the Eiffel Tower may not be the best choice of neighborhood in terms of convenience. Even the closest hotel will be a long walk and quite frankly, not the most scenic one. Also, you visit the Eiffel Tower perhaps once on your trip and the rest of the time you're really far from the other places you want to visit.

The Eiffel Tower is really accessible by public transport so if you're near any Métro station, you can get there easily. Pick an area with plenty of places to eat and drink, where you can easily reach the many other attractions in Paris.

I find Trip Advisor the best source of hotel information. Since these are not professional reviews, keep that in mind but so far, it's given me a good perspective on hotels in many cities (and suffered the one time I ignored them!)

Many tourists like staying in the Saint-Germaine Left Bank area. There are no really bad neighborhoods in Paris but some are really "dead" at night (like the 2nd and parts of the 18th).

I'm also a bit hesitant on the Segway tour. Sounds a bit touristy and I too think there are better ways of seeing Paris.

Good luck!

This is a link to booking.com, a hotel search website, where I have selected 3 star hotels near the eiffel tower. I don't know any of them so can't recommend them but booking.com has feedback from previous customers, so you can look at the ratings/comments yourself.

The best time to visit the Eiffel Tower itself is just before dusk - if you time it right you can go up when it's still light, but then stay for 30-40 minutes until it gets dark, and see both views. Personally I wouldn't fancy a Segway tour at night - although I'm sure they'd keep you safe there would be a lot less to see, since not everything is illuminated. There are other tours which are better at night, such as a boat tour on a Bateau Mouche.

a hotel i stayed at when i went to paris was hotel de l'esperance. it was close to rue moufftard and in the latin quarter. it was only 2 star, but it was very clean, and although it wasn't close to the eiffel tower, it was a short walk to several metro stations, which will get you to the eiffel tower in no time! the price was very reasonable too.

as for the segway tour... i would go during the day, but make sure to go to the eiffel tower at night as well.

I've stayed at the Hotel Cluny on the Left Bank. It's not close to the Eiffel Tower, but certain rooms on the upper floors used to have a nice view that you could see the Eiffel Tower. (Ask for the specific room and reserve that one.) It's on the Boulevard Saint-Michel and in a nice enough neighborhood. Well within walking distance of Notre Dame, le Jardin de Luxembourg the quais etc. I would highly recommend it, but havent stayed there in the last few years so would also recommend that you double check behind me. We were very, very pleased with it when we stayed there. Neat, clean, reasonable, in a decent neighborhood and great locale.

If you understand that the Eiffel Tower is not in the center of the tourist area you will look in the 1st or 6th. I researched about 60 hotels for our 30th anniversary trip and I picked the Hotel Mansart, just off Place Vendome, around the corner from the Ritz in the 1st. It was within walking distance of just about everything and is centrally located between 3 metro stations as well. There are also taxi stands within 50 yards and you can catch a cab at any time of day or night. My recommendation is to take the metro uphill to the Arch de Triumph and then walk down the Champs-Elysées. From there you can walk to the Eiffel Tower and stroll along the river or take a ride on Bateaux Parisiens.

I highly recommend Hotel Mansart because it meets your price range, is in a great location and has an awesome staff dedicated to making your stay wonderful. The speak good English too, the rooms are very big for Paris and the style is Louis XVI.

I would try the segway tour in the daytime. It would be tougher and more dangerous at night for you.

Bonne chance! Enjoy Paris!

Paris is quite spread out, and the easiest way by far to get around is the Metro. I mean, you can walk, but it's all hard surfaces .....
