Hi,
the best place for shopping is either in the station of Havre caumartin in the 9th arrondissement it is a place where there is Galleries Lafayette printemps and all of shops , you can go as well to '' Les halles '' 1st arrondissement which also really great to shop , and a place which is really central is the area of Bastille ,a really great and popular area , really next to tourist attractions and if you are looking for an hotel this one is located in Bastille

I like the 6th arrondissement (Left Bank), around the St. Germain area. You are close to Notre Dame, the Louvre, the Latin Quarter, the D'Orsay, and an RER station. You are also close to the shops that line St. Germain Blvd. and an easy distance to the trendier right bank retail shops on Rue de Rivoli (H&M, Mango, Zara, Etam, etc.).

Cheap and charming hotels:
Hotel de Nesle
Hotel Saint Andre des Arts

I stayed in Quartier Latin, and loved it. Walk to Nôtre Dame, the Louvre, the cafés right there. Subway stop at St. Michel, to take you anyplace you can't walk to.

Le Marais is across the River, a tiny bit more posh.

I've never heard of Ile de France, and can't find it, but Ile St. Louis is right, smack dab in the middle of the River.

I don't think there's any housing on Ile de la Cité.
