It's easy to spot an American (like me) in Paris. It's not just what we wear, but it's how we carry ourselves, even our facial expressions. We look people in the eyes, we smile, we don't give a damn (just like the French, lol) but there is a difference. And I'm not so sure that it was NECESSARILY NICE that they were saying that to you, know what I mean? It all depends. A lot of them think we're rolling in dough when most of us have scrimped and saved to visit that fabulous city. |

I experienced the same thing. I think they are trying to live down the old "label" they had of being stuffy and snoody.
It's the younger generations that have changed that image.
I love it. it makes going to France fun and exciting!

they've realized how doff Americans are and how easy it is to swindle them! I know...i worked in tourism in South Africa and they were so easy to up sell when it came to souvenirs! |
