Why did the French people voted for Sarkozy? |
What attracted the French voters?
His father is Hungarian refugee, in which makes it "un-French".
I want to know as much information about the French voters' mind and Sarkozy as posssible.

Well you know his origins were used to say that he shouldn't be allowed to be candidate. The one who said this is Le Pen who is known for being a racist and denying the fact that the gaz chambers in WWII really killed that many Jewish.
But even though Sarkozy's dad was from Hungary, it doesn't change the fact that his mom is French and that he was born in France making him a French citizen. He never had the Hungary nationality. And France isn't like the US where non US born citizen can be elected for President like Schwarzenegger.
That said, a lot of people reproach Sarkozy with being racist and dangerous for the Republic. But during this election he wans't the one who preach violence but more his opponent Royal who called for manifestation after the election. And that's what happened.
In fact this election was more or less a everyone against Sarkozy and it still is. The problem is that it failed.
Or course this man isn't that innocent or perfect. He is close to Bush and in France we don't really like it. He is a friend of Tom Cruise who is known for being part of a secte ( in France it is a secte so it is forbidden ). He said that paedophile ( don't know how to write it ) and homosexuality was in your genes from the time you were born and not something that come after with the way you are living.
There would be lots to say about it. |

Why did you write your question twice?
Why did you write your question twice?
What's all this about not being French when your father is not French? My father was not French, and yet I'm French.

I answer twice, since you ask twice.

People here really don't care about his Hungarian/Jewish/Greek background.
The thing is Sarkozy gave quite a nationalistic tone to his campaign and claimed many times how proud he is to be French.
People who voted for him did it because Sarkozy is a self-proclaimed "strong man" who promised to restore order, to crack down on crime, and to cut taxes.
Many people were worried after the riots that took place last year in suburbean areas and that's a reason why they chosed him.
On the other hand, there are strong anti-Sarkozy feelings among other parts of the French people. Sarkozy is considered by many to be some kind of French George Bush who will destroy the Welfare state and lead agressive policies. |

Sarkozy is the best choice for France. He has demonstrated over the years that he is a capable, tireless person. There will be some difficult decisions to be made in the French Republic, and he is the guy with the guts to roll up his sleeves and get the job done.
Madame Ségolène Royal has demonstrated in the past 6 months that she does not have the sophistication and talent to be the leader of a world-class country like France. I have every confidence that we have not seen the last of her, and she may actually end up being France's first female président. However, she needs to learn more about international affairs and economic matters related to the French Republic. |

If you are living USA, you are not native American, so some people can tell you that you can have all rights as natives . Your grand-grands came in USA from some other countries. Do not forget that. So about France ar any other countries. As i can see, it is not just a question about France voting, this question contains a prejudice. |
