Yes it's true that France is the top tourist destination. The 3 main reasons why are:
-Disneyland
-Eiffel Tower
-The Louvre
Not to mention, the Churches, wine, cheese, and most of all- culture.

Who says it's the top tourist destination?? I bet the USA pulls in WAY more tourist dollars than them and NYC kills Paris by a long shot. Anyhow...France has:

1. An int'l reputation for wine.
2. Paris, which has the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triumphe.
3. The Louvre art museum.
4. Great beaches on the Meditterreanean...
5. Mountains in the south for skiing.

Hi

France has around 75 million foreign tourists each year.

US has 45 million (including 23 million from Canada and Mexico). Less than 1m French tourists visit US each year.

France has varied attractions - history, architecture, wine, food, beaches, winter sports etc. generating a year round tourist trade.

There are also geographical reasons :

North Europeans and Brits, take driving routes through France to get to Spain, Portugal, and the Mediterranean.

Almost all Europeans visiting UK by car pass through France.

France is seen as a secure destination.
