bc they were the head of the enlightenment, bc of king louis XIV, bc they just care more about those type things...

I'm not sure France is more cultured or more civilized. But if it's right, we can explain that. France is an old country. In the past there were many different politics systems. So France have a long history.

To Sheep dog : France is grateful to the USA. But don't forget that without the french help during the independance war, maybe there would not exist any states, constitution and America.

Hi! My name is Ana. My family and I are planning to move to France. We have done our "homework" trying to learn as much as we can about the French culture and so on and as of now, we love what we know about the French population and the country as a whole. I am personally learning the language since I think it is very important since I am the foreign and I am the one that needs to get "adapted" since I will be the one envading the French territory. By the way, I am Cuban and emigrated to the US 25 years ago, later on moved to the Republic of Panama where I have being on and off 4 years and the last 2 years in a more steady way (actually living here). I feel that Panama is not for me since I would like to be in a more civilized country where culture is a most and that is not the case here. I need to know (if anyone of course can help me?!?!) What do you all feel about FRANCE in general? If you would have the possibility and the financial means, would you actually move to France? Do I have any chances of getting accepted within the French population? I would really love to! I consider French people as very intellectual, with a high grade of culture and education, sophysticated and with good hearts! Please, give me honest and serious answers, specially if there is any French person within this Forum... I really want to know anything an everything that can help me on this adventure that I hope is the last in my life! Thank you in advanced to everybody that can guide me a little and that takes me serious on this!

France is certainly among the most cultured and most civilized countries in the world but the nature of concepts like "civilization" and "culture" is sufficiently subjective that claiming that one country is THE most most cultured and civilized is tendentious at best.

I don't think there is one country more cultured or civilized than others...

I don't know about their culture, but they can thank the U.S. for their civilization since we've bailed them out in at least two wars.
This would probably account for their culture as well.

mudbug
ha. they have rats swimming in their toilets! and the toilet paper has the government seal on it! you call that cultured?
