Will France be expensive this year? 2009? |
Just like to know if it will be expensive to holiday in France this year. I will be exchanging pounds into euros.
Looking for comparisons on fuel, campsites, supermarket food and beer, road tolls, leisure activities etc.
Any advise will be much appreciated.

Yes. Since the value of the pound vs Euro has dropped. Everywhere with the Euro is expensive for brits.
For example litre of petrol will be over £1.
Lager in France is £4.45.
Those are just a couple of examples to give you an idea. |

Also avoid Paris is you are on a budget. I lived here 4 years ago, moved to New York, London and now back again to Paris. Out of all of them, Paris feels the most expensive - seriously. Aside from the exchange rate moving against you, prices in general seem astronomical these days.
If you are driving to the south of France, you should be fine though as fuel prices will ease off slightly this year and campsites will continue to be good value. Avoid travelling to the south of France in August. Everyone in Paris takes August off of the south is packed and prices go up. If you can manage to g oin June or September it will be cheaper. |
