Well since many European phones work in the US, then the logical answer to this is that many US phones will work in Europe!
You need to check the band type you are operating on in the US as there are different 'frequencies'. If your phone is a tri-band model there is every chance it will work overseas. Obviously it won't be using your US service provider, it will 'roam' and pick up a European service provider instead - though you will probably have to get your network to switch this facility on for you before you go. |

Most do not, I know Sprint doesn't for sure, check with your provider to be positive though. You can buy a temp one here in the states from Verizon that will work or rent one in France. Long distance is expensive on temp and rented ones though. |

yes, my cingular phone picked up other networks in france...but it was extremely expensive...if your phone is unlocked you should try to buy a prepaid SIM card while you are there. |

If you have a triband world phone you can get a sim card through STA Travel that will allow people in the U.S. to call you toll free and gives you very low rates to call back home. Check out www.statravel.com and search cell phones. |

No- European networks are different from American networks. There are a lot of different places to rent cell phones for when you will be travelling. Try www.roberts-rent-a-phone.com or just type european cell phone rentals into any internet search engine. |
