"Serious answer" Hello there , best way to check is to drop by any police station and check it out if there is any problem or if they got a ticket on you , maybe you need to do some paper work or need a permission before driving a foreign car in France .

Yes you will get a ticket. I did from Australia. Im not sure what will happen if you try and avoid it apart from you will be arrested the next time you travel to France and will be in much deeper trouble. Offences wherever they are commited apply to the driver not the country they are commited in. For example if you are banned for drink driving in the UK you cannot drive abroad until you are legally able to drive again in the UK

It's not because the French police have got a picture of your license plate that they can identify you. They must ask your country to identify the license plate but if there is no agreement between France and your country to exchange this kind of information it might take ages and it's possible that they would drop the charge.
