NO NO NO
too much walking and noting to intrest a child that young.

Oh god no. No way. The gardens aren't so bad - cool fountains. Maybe if you do lots of active stuff beforehand he'll sleep in a stroller for a while - but the longer you wait the more crowded it gets. A portable dvd player and headphones might work, but that might bring a few "looks" your way - but...you'll get a lot more looks if your kid is screaming, crying, whining so I wouldn't worry about it.

A 4 year old doesn't enjoy anything for more than about 30 minutes, anyway - so do what you gotta do. The kiddo will love to have his picture drawn at Montmartre.

She/He will be too young to appreciate it, and it's so huge, she will be tired and cranky within two hours. Even with a stroller, it's too much of a headache.

Another thing: when your child gets older, they will wish that you had waited to take them when they were old enough to remember.

as much as i hate to say...probably not :-/ it is VERY beautiful...if you do visit i would suggest making it a quick stop and taking some pictures for your child to see when he or she gets older...

dazed_n_confused
Probably not...it's a big castle that you have to enter in a tour and walk down little asile ways through the house to see everything and you can't touch anything and you can't take pictures. It's good to visit as an adult or even teenager because it is very beautiful and historical but a 4 year old won't care.

nope. i went with a group of teenagers, and it was hard enough to keep THEM interested, even with the historical knowledge they had. it's also a place where there are a lot of NO TOUCH items, so you'd have to keep a close eye on him or her.

Pete
Unless you go on one of the very few evenings when the foutains are running, ABSOLUTELY NOT! (Even then, a four year old -- and in fact, many forty year olds -- will be bored silly in about 10 minutes.

It's also a fairly long train ride to get there from Paris for that young a child.

Try the carnival type rids on the Tracadero across from the Eiffel Tower, and the Bois de Bologna for a nice picnic.

Paris is not a particularly "kid-friendly" city since the French don't worry about entertaining their children. They value family, education, and play instead.

Titi
Why don't you take him/her to Asterix Park, or Euro Disneyland. Yeah s/he's too young to appreciate it!
