Will the Euro continue to increase its value vs. the Dollar? Going to Europe soon, should I buy Euros now? |

The Euro trades at $1.27. Meaning for every euro that you need you will have to pay a 27% premium.
Technical data on the market indicate that in the short-term (2 weeks or less), the euro may retreat to $1.25.. not a big move. The long-term trend is definitely bullish for the euro. So if your trip is in 6 months, that's gonna suck even more.
No matter what, avoid at all costs places like private dealers such as American Express or local neighborhood exchange dealers. They charge you a ridiculous premium on top of the exchange rate. Use ATMs or your card directly to pay. Commissions are way lower.
And to the dumbass that said that everything that comes from Europe sucks, I guess it's about time she calls Delta Airlines to go get some fresh air instead of going stale in her **** hole.
Have a great trip |

agree w/ Kablink... use an ATM once you're in europe.
1) you pay less
2) It's safer than carrying a wad of bills around. |

As we were always taught in Finance, you should hedge. Lots of ways to do this, but I would just buy half the money you plan on spending now. Then any differences either way will be half as much.
If I had to venture a guess though, I would say the dollar will continue to slip. Should you want to employ a weighted hedge based on the odds of a stronger dollar, or stronger euro, you would then find the % chance you think one will happen. Say you think 70% chance the dollar will be weaker in 3 months. You should then transfer 70% of your money to euros now.
I'd read a few online money specialists and their opinions and then set a %.
All this said, ATMs in Europe are great(everywhere in most northern and western european countries), and sometimes banks in the US will charge a lot to transfer. So look into that as well. |

Don't buy euros now. Exchange rates are terrible. It's cheaper (and easier) to use an ATM once you get there. Most banks charge a flat rate when you use an overseas atm, and that charge is cheaper than what you'll pay to exchange money. |

Don't buy any Euros until you get there, and then just use your debit card. Some places charge a huge surcharge to exchange your money. Check before you go if your particular debit card charges a surcharge. I know that my Visa credit card did, but my debit card did not. |
