The Tour de France means simply the International doping competition, which each year, crowns the man who paid best doctors and scientists in sort they have found for him the best substance that will make him able to go higher, faster, stronger.
(it sounds familiar ? yeah because it's the olympic motto , modern OG reinstaured by French).
.
But Tour de France is more than 100 years old competition, that each day during July emphasises a French city or region.
Yes sometimes the Tour de France invades foreign countries, it's for marketing and sponsors without nothing would be possible.

So, if the Tour de France stills have a meaning (doped winner, commercials everywhere, too much TV shows), it's due to money and to make money.

Miranda finds it boring. It's up to her. I'm not a real fan either but let's be honest: it's one of the most popular event in France because cycling is one of the favourite sport for the french. And even people not interested in cycling like this race, especially if they can intend it. I remember attending it few years ago, in the middle of nowhere in a forest of central france. In this place where usually you see nobody, it was crowded. As i said, i'm not a fan. But i enjoyed what i saw.
I think this race has an important place in the image of France above all because people all around the world can watch on TV pictures of different landscapes of my country. It's just a shame that every year we have a scandal about drug-taking.

Not much to me. It is so boring!

To me it means that the two channels france 2 and france 3 are to become boring and are to be bannished for a while!

Really, I don t think it means anything.
