Would I be able to live in Paris although I am not fluent in French?
I do know the basics of French but I have trouble speaking at the speed that someone who is fluent at a language has. I just wanted to know if it would be possible to live in Paris while not totally being able to speak French.
It's possible. You will probably pick up the language as you go. I moved to Italy without knowing any of Italian and now I am fluent. Just make an attempt to try the language and those there should respect you.

You need have no concern. Surveys have established that the majority of people in France speak at least some English and that a substantial percentage regard themselves as fluent .
In a big city like Paris it is hard to escape English speakers. I find that I have a difficult time speaking French to people because conversations slowly switch over to English as people realize from my atrocious accent and limited vocabulary that I'm not a native French speaker.

Yes it is really possible. My friend came to Paris two years ago. She did not know any word in french. And now she speaks better than any french person. It is hard at first, but than it will get easier. Trust me !

I don't completely agree with the other people saying it will be no problem. I do speak french but not completely fluently, but certainly more than the average. I was in Paris this past summer and I found it really difficult. It's particularly difficult when you need specific information- what time to get to the airport, how to get to the train, etc. Having said that if you are prepared to be patient, bring a french English dictionary, and are eagar to learn, it can be a great experience.
