Would a 6'4 tall man be giant in France?

I'm 6'4 and though taller than most men here, I am not that rare and come across men who are taller than me now and then, and my experience has been pretty much the same across Europe. Only in some African countries, India and Mexico did I come across as being a giant since most men in those countries seem to be barely past 5'7

I have a friend who is 6'5" and we traveled to France together a couple of years ago. He certainly wasn't a giant, but he was taller than most men we saw. That said, he is taller than most men from the States.

France has roughly the same average heights as the U.S., that is, 5'4" for women and 5'9" for men. So a man who is 6'4" tall will be tall in both countries.

He would not be a giant in Normandy, I am sure. I was astounded by the height of some of the people I saw in that region. They are also frequently blonde. I guess they are an obvious testament to the Viking settlements in northern France. Of course, everybody in Normandy is not tall like you mentioned.

Overall, from my personal observation, I think someone who is 6'4" would be considered as very tall in France, as he would be in North America. However, I do not think he would be regarded as a giant. I think men in France maybe tend to be slightly shorter than they are in North America because they live further south. I am not sure why people living in the north of Europe, as a group, are taller than the population in the south. Of course, exceptions to the rule are numerous.

It wouldn't be so bad...
The more you go down southward the smallest men are. I have no idea of the average size of french people, but english are taller and portugeese smaller, of course...
There a large mixure of population in this country and all kinds of sizes are represented. And 6'4 men tall aren't so rare...
